Unfortunately, the use of most European motorways or expressways is subject to a fee, but so far there is no uniform EU-wide regulation on the amount and form of collection of these “fees”. The amount of the toll usually depends on the weight of the vehicle, but often also on the height. Therefore, many questions arise before the start of the journey: Do I need a vignette? Or do I have to pay a toll? What are the costs for me? And how are these settled?
In order to give you an initial overview, we have again updated the individual toll and vignette regulations of the European countries, some with concrete calculation examples. However, these can change again and again – so it is best to find out whether there are new regulations for your travel destination before you leave.
